According to the county on the 25th, garden roses are greatly influenced by the natural environment, and this year they began blooming in mid-May, one week earlier than last year. They are expected to be in full bloom during the holiday period from the 27th to the 29th, preparing for the arrival of visitors in earnest.
Since February, the county has been carefully managing the growth of the garden roses by removing leaves from branches with disease spots, conducting winter pest control, and performing pruning, training, and shaping management tailored to the characteristics of garden roses to ensure beautiful blooms in spring.
To provide not only beautiful roses but also various attractions, the park has installed seasonal flowers, three-dimensional landscape flowerpot hangers, roofed pergolas, and benches around trees as resting spaces for visitors, allowing residents and tourists to enjoy a European-style rose garden in full bloom.
The county invested 5.6 billion KRW from 2017 to 2021 to create the four-season rose garden on a scale of 10,000㎡ to develop Imsil Cheese Theme Park into a tourist destination where flowers bloom all year round.
They planted 10,000 premium roses of 90 varieties from David Austin of the UK, receiving much love from many tourists immersed in the floral fragrance.
In particular, when the second phase, a 38,705㎡ European-style rose garden constructed with an investment of 9.8 billion KRW, is completed this year, Imsil Cheese Theme Park is expected to become a splendid European-style theme park featuring roses and cheese as its main content.
Deputy Governor Lee Min-sook said, “We will make Imsil Cheese Theme Park a four-season tourist attraction by hosting a rose festival in spring, an aqua festival in summer, a chrysanthemum festival in autumn, and a Santa festival in winter, turning it into a year-round stay-type tourist destination.”
