Bbakchiju and Gaebbakchiju are premium distilled soju with 25 and 40 degrees alcohol content, respectively, created inspired by the lines of Jo Chungbeom, the protagonist of the Watcha original drama. The product names contain a witty message, referring to the drink as a comfort for the frustration of Korean office workers and a drink to reach for when feeling irritated. They feature a clean and pure taste made only from domestically produced rice, water, and nuruk (fermentation starter).
According to Emart24, sales of distilled soju increased more than 2.5 times compared to the previous year last year, and from January 1 to the 23rd of this month, sales have tripled.
An event to celebrate the product launch will also be held. Next month, customers who pay for Bbakchiju or Gaebbakchiju using KakaoPay will receive a 10% payback benefit. From the 7th to the 30th, 500 customers who scan the integrated barcode on the mobile app when purchasing the product will be entered into a draw to win free Watcha usage vouchers.
