Police Investigate Rental Fraud Allegations Against Landlord Owning 694 Houses
The Jungbu Police Station in Seoul announced on the 24th that it is investigating a rental business owner who owns 694 housing units, including villas, in the metropolitan area for allegedly committing jeonse fraud.
According to the police, Mr. Sa (61) is accused of buying houses in districts such as Gangseo-gu, Gwanak-gu, Dongjak-gu, and Eunpyeong-gu in Seoul through a no-capital gap investment method, renting them out, and failing to return the deposit to some tenants (fraud).
The police began the investigation last month based on a tip-off and have so far questioned more than 150 tenants as witnesses. Mr. Sa denied the allegations during the police investigation earlier this month.

The police plan to verify the exact scale of the damage and whether there are accomplices based on real estate lease contract data received from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Mr. Sa's financial transaction records.
