On the 14th anniversary of the passing of former President Roh Moo-hyun, the Gwangju Metropolitan City Party of the Democratic Party of Korea issued a statement pledging to protect democracy.
On the 23rd, the Democratic Party's Gwangju City Party stated, "We will uphold the spirit and values of Roh Moo-hyun, protect democracy, and never neglect efforts to create a society without discrimination, a society governed by common sense, and a world where people live with dignity."
They continued, "President Roh Moo-hyun devoted himself to building a Korea where citizens are equal and common sense prevails. Believing that good politics can change the world, he stood firmly against injustice and always protected the vulnerable on the side of the people," emphasizing, "Just as rivers do not give up on the sea, despite numerous hardships and pains, President Roh never gave up and worked tirelessly for a nation that serves its people."
Furthermore, they said, "That is what the presidency demands: to care for the people's livelihood and to dedicate oneself solely to the citizens," adding, "The president must listen to the voices of the people and serve their interests."
