Professor Park Hyungcheon of Gangnam Severance Hospital Elected Next President of the Korean Society of Nephrology
Professor Park Hyung-cheon of the Department of Nephrology at Yonsei University Gangnam Severance Hospital has been elected as the next president of the Korean Society of Nephrology. His term will be two years, from June 2024 to 2026.

View original imageThe Korean Society of Nephrology was established in 1980 to lead the diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases and to promote academic development in the field of nephrology. Currently, it has over 2,000 members, 8 branches, and 19 research committees under its umbrella, focusing on public awareness and education about kidney diseases to enhance public health.
Professor Park graduated from Yonsei University College of Medicine and has been working as a professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and the Department of Nephrology at Gangnam Severance Hospital since 2000. He currently serves as the Deputy Director of Research at Gangnam Severance Hospital, Head of the Department of Nephrology, and Secretary-General of the Asian-Pacific Society of Nephrology. In March, he was elected as a council member of the International Society of Nephrology, becoming the second Korean to hold this position, and serves as the Vice Chair for the Northeast Asia region.

Professor Park stated, "I will actively support academic exchanges in the field of nephrology both domestically and internationally, as well as the activities of branches and research committees. Through various educational and promotional materials tailored to the public’s level of understanding, I will provide accurate information about kidney diseases and take the lead in establishing health policies in the nephrology field. I will do my best to promote public health and the development of the Korean Society of Nephrology."
