Uljin-gun to Conduct 'Community Health Survey' This Year
Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, is conducting the "2023 Community Health Survey" until July 31.
The community health survey, conducted in partnership with Dongguk University WISE Campus Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation following a business agreement signed in March, is a nationally approved statistical survey carried out simultaneously by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency and public health centers nationwide in accordance with the Regional Health Act.
Since 2008, it has been conducted annually to establish a surveillance system for the prevention of chronic diseases in the community, securing local health statistics to be used as data for regional health care plans and health project outcomes.
The survey targets approximately 900 adults aged 19 and older from 534 sample households across 10 towns and townships in Uljin-gun. The survey method involves five trained surveyors wearing uniforms and ID badges visiting the sample households in person to conduct measurements and one-on-one interviews using electronic questionnaires on tablet PCs.
The survey covers a total of 17 areas with 145 questions, including smoking, drinking, safety awareness, physical activity, dietary habits, obesity and weight control, oral health, mental health, vaccinations and screenings, chronic disease morbidity based on early symptom recognition of hypertension, diabetes, stroke, and myocardial infarction, medical institution usage, accidents and poisoning (falls), and personal hygiene.
