Ulleung-gun Signs Business Agreement with Dokdo Museum and Goheung Buncheong Culture Museum
The Dokdo Museum in Ulleung-gun, Gyeongbuk, signed an agreement with the Goheung Buncheong Culture Museum on the 18th to promote exhibition, academic, and educational activities.
The Goheung Buncheong Culture Museum is a regional hub museum in Goheung-gun. Residents of Goheung-gun have been coming and going to Ulleungdo since before the pioneering order, engaging in various economic activities utilizing the island's resources.
Thus, the two museums from regions with historically significant connections have joined hands to revitalize local culture.
The main points of this agreement include promoting linked projects to activate the museums' key operations and cooperative publicity, developing and revitalizing programs for Dokdo education through mutual cooperation, mutual research collaboration for academic advancement including research and seminar hosting, and cooperation regarding the lending and use of materials held by each institution for content development.
Through this agreement, the two museums agreed to develop museum-type content based on research of their historical and cultural resources and to use this to strengthen the cultural foundation of their local communities. In particular, a joint special exhibition focusing on the use of Ulleungdo and Dokdo by residents of Geomundo and Chodo, which formerly belonged to Goheung-gun, is scheduled to be held in July.
