Checking Organizational Status and Management Conditions, Sharing Goodwill Cases such as Sosohan Communication
Contributing to Job Creation Linked with Local Community and Companies, and Revitalization of Local Economy
Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it is accelerating the activation of coexistence companies by promoting visits to coexistence companies along with the launch of the 8th elected government.
Coexistence companies refer to businesses where small business owners, youth, and social economy organizations become economic agents to provide social services or jobs to vulnerable groups or contribute to the local community while coexisting with local residents. They actively practice ESG management and exert a positive influence on the local community.
The district promoted visits to coexistence companies from February 24 to April 18 to discover excellent cases of self-sustaining coexistence companies and support their growth. Through on-site interviews with 16 excellent coexistence companies, the needs of coexistence companies were identified and experiences of coexistence with the local community were shared.
They also took time to check organizational status and management conditions, listen to difficulties in business operations, and future plans. Here are some of the excellent coexistence companies introduced through the visits.
'Sosohan Communication' takes the lead in smooth information access for people with developmental disabilities. Using 'easy information' such as simple expressions, images, and designs, they produce welfare guidebooks, election education materials, delivery app usage guides, and art exhibition catalogs. They also strive to enhance the right to know for people with developmental disabilities by providing education on producing 'easy information' and distributing 'easy information' content for free.
The Korea Energy Technicians Association, authorized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, creates jobs by employing retired seniors in the energy field (heat management, maintenance, etc.). Based on the know-how and technical skills of retired technicians, they operate training for energy diagnosis for private and public institutions and training for managers of certified inspection target equipment. They also actively interact with the local community by volunteering to inspect and repair heating facilities in Yeongdeungpo’s shantytown.
The social cooperative 'Hangang' operates ecological cultural film festivals, ecological photo exhibitions, and climate action camps in connection with local schools, institutions, and companies to restore the Hangang ecosystem.
To spread 'river culture' that combines rivers and culture, they designated the Eurasian otter, a natural monument inhabiting Yeouido Saetgang, as a mascot and conduct environmental protection education and programs, contributing to raising awareness of environmental protection.

They manufacture and sell assistive devices such as electric wheelchairs and portable electric lifts, and perform PC manufacturing/rental, safety management, cleaning, and security services. Since November 2022, they have formed a volunteer group of people with developmental disabilities and contribute to the local community through activities such as cleaning Anyangcheon Stream.
The district plans to continue discovering coexistence companies with active social contribution activities and high profitability and actively promote their goodwill cases. Through this, they aim to raise awareness of coexistence companies and promote sustainable development such as job creation linked with the local community and companies and revitalization of the local economy.
