Gumi-si, 'Jalsalabose! Gumi (Keyring)' Selected for Gold Prize ... This Year's Tourism Souvenir Contest
On the 16th, Gumi City announced the results of the "2023 Gumi City Tourism Souvenir Contest."
This contest invited entries of folk crafts and industrial products that could directly or indirectly symbolize President Park Chung-hee’s birthplace and achievements. Most of the submitted works were related to the Saemaul Undong (New Village Movement), one of President Park Chung-hee’s notable achievements.
A total of 23 works were submitted, and after a preliminary preference screening and evaluation by the judging panel, five works were finally selected (1 Gold Prize, 1 Silver Prize, 1 Bronze Prize, and 2 Encouragement Awards).
The Gold Prize was awarded to Kim Jeong-ye’s entry, "Jalsara Bose! Gumi (Keyring)," which was inspired by the Saemaul Spirit logo and President Park Chung-hee’s birthplace, receiving excellent evaluations for its symbolism of Gumi and practicality as a tourism souvenir.
The Silver Prize went to "Saemaul Punggyeong (風磬)," a decorative bell using the Saemaul slogan and logo; the Bronze Prize was awarded to "Saemaul Chingudeul (Stationery Set)," a product expressing the Saemaul Undong as characters; and the Encouragement Awards were given to "Gumi City Tourism Transportation Card," designed with Gumi’s tourist attractions and modernized cityscape, and "Ttobagi Gumi (Gua Sha)," featuring the semiconductor industry representing Gumi Industrial Complex and a turtle shape. The grand prize was not awarded following the judges’ discussion.
