Boseong-gun Holds Administrative Council Meeting for Deukryang Bay and Gangjin Bay Areas

Leading Model for Interlocal Government Cooperation

On the 15th, Boseong-gun in Jeollanam-do announced that it held the 1st regular meeting of the Deukryangman-Gangjinman Administrative Council 2023 at Botjae Hall.

At the event, Kim Cheol-woo, the governor of Boseong-gun, and Im Yong-min, the chairman of the Boseong-gun Council, along with the governors and council chairpersons of the four counties?Goheung-gun, Jangheung-gun, and Gangjin-gun?gathered to share opinions on regional pending projects and the joint agenda of the council.

The discussed agenda items included five topics such as the early promotion of the Gwangju-Goheung (Naro Space Center) highway construction project and support for local representative festivals. In particular, for jointly approved proposals, the four counties plan to unite their efforts to respond to the central government.

Additionally, they pledged to conduct mutual exchanges to broaden understanding of the region’s history and culture, develop tourism package products linking the four counties, and work together to discover pending projects for joint development.

Kim Cheol-woo, governor of Boseong-gun and chairman of the Deukryangman-Gangjinman Administrative Council, said, “As we enter the 30th year of local autonomy, we must develop self-sustainability on our own.” He added, “Let us strive so that the Deukryangman-Gangjinman Administrative Council, which has infinite potential, can become a leading model of cooperation among local governments nationwide.”

Meanwhile, the Deukryangman-Gangjinman Administrative Council was launched in 2018 to lead regional development through the preservation of the clean coasts of Deukryangman and Gangjinman and joint prosperity. The governor of Boseong-gun and the chairman of the Boseong-gun Council serve as co-chairs of the council.
