Public Purchase of Ancient Documents and Historical Records in Goheung-gun
The Jeonnam Goheung Buncheong Culture Museum announced that it will publicly purchase old documents and printed materials related to Goheung in order to preserve the history and culture of Goheung and continuously secure and conserve local historical materials.
The purchase targets are old documents (documents) and printed materials (personal collections, local chronicles, etc.) related to the Goheung area or figures before the 1970s. Individual collectors, cultural property dealers, corporations, and organizations can apply for up to 20 items per person.
Applications for artifact sales can be submitted by downloading the application form from the Goheung County and Goheung Buncheong Culture Museum websites, filling it out, and then visiting the Goheung Buncheong Culture Museum or sending it by registered mail or email from July 3 to July 7, 2023.
The artifacts submitted for sale will undergo a first round of document (photo) screening to select candidates for physical examination, followed by a second round of artifact appraisal to make the final decision on purchase.
A county official said, “Through purchasing artifacts, we plan to preserve and pass down the history and cultural heritage of Goheung and utilize them for exhibitions, research, and education in the future,” adding, “We ask for active participation and interest from artifact owners.”
