Daegu International Beauty Expo, the Largest in Yeongnam Region, Opens at EXCO
Daegu City will hold the '2023 Daegu International Beauty Expo,' a pioneering model of regional beauty fairs and the largest beauty exhibition in the Yeongnam area, from the 19th to the 21st at the EXCO East Hall Exhibition Center.
Marking its 10th anniversary this year, the expo features exhibition halls for beauty products such as cosmetics, nails, and hair, an export and purchase consultation meeting providing business marketing opportunities for small and medium-sized beauty companies, a beauty skills competition for nurturing beauty talents, a beauty experience hall offering various attractions and information for visitors, and seminars.
A key feature of this year’s expo is the strengthened role of the offline platform for K-beauty companies, which have lacked face-to-face consultation opportunities with overseas buyers due to COVID-19 over the past three years.
This event will host 130 domestic companies with 220 booths, and 27 overseas buyers from 19 countries will visit Daegu to hold offline export consultation meetings aiming for export contracts exceeding 10 million USD through one-on-one business matching with companies.
In addition to countries like China and Malaysia that have participated in previous export consultation meetings, new overseas markets such as Denmark, North America, and India will be expanded. A purchase consultation meeting will also be held with buyers from 22 major domestic distribution companies, including Hyundai Department Store, E-Mart, Coupang, Lotte Home Shopping, and 11st.
Moreover, the Daegu-Gyeongbuk joint pavilion, supported by Daegu Technopark (Korean Medicine Beauty Convergence Center) and Daegu Haany University (K-Beauty Convergence Industry Promotion Complex), will be established, and for the first time nationwide, joint marketing will be conducted with the Osong Cosmetics & Beauty Industry Expo.
In May, Chungcheongbuk-do will participate in the Daegu International Beauty Expo, and in October, Daegu City will participate in the Osong Cosmetics & Beauty Industry Expo to promote mutual growth and cooperation among domestic beauty companies.
This event will proceed with both B2B (business-to-business) and B2C (business-to-consumer) activities simultaneously. A special exhibition hall featuring beauty trends such as 'Conscious Beauty,' which considers not only cosmetic ingredients but also the environment after product use, vegan beauty, and beauty tech will be created, allowing visitors to explore various beauty products reflecting ethical consumption under the theme of 'valuable beauty' and modern lifestyles at a glance.
Additionally, the Beauty Change Hall, where visitors can find their suitable colors through personal consultations and receive direct demonstrations from makeup experts, and the Beauty College Hall, where visitors can experience perfume making, nail art, and skin and scalp diagnosis, are must-visit experience corners at the expo.
At the first-floor lobby of EXCO East Hall, where the Daegu International Beauty Expo is held, visitors who take photos on-site and upload them to the Daegu International Beauty Expo Instagram will receive a secret beauty bag containing various beauty products as a giveaway event for the first 50 people each day. Seminars on revitalizing the beauty industry and hair trend shows will also be held to provide visitors with diverse attractions and information.
Furthermore, on the first day, the 36th Daegu Mayor’s Beauty Competition will begin, followed by the International Beauty Contest on the 20th, and on the 21st, the 13th Daegu Mayor’s Skin Beauty Competition and the 1st Nail Competition will take place. About 1,000 beauty industry workers and beauty-related high school and university students from across the country will participate as contestants to showcase their skills to the fullest.
