'The Korea Theater Festival' to be Held in Yongin Next Year

View original imageThe '42nd Korea Theater Festival' will be held next year in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.
Yongin City announced on the 15th that it has secured at least 800 million KRW in national funding and decided to host the Korea Theater Festival next year.
Started in 1983, the 'Korea Theater Festival' is the most prestigious festival for theater artists in the country. In the final round of the festival, theater companies that have won through fierce competition in regional preliminaries showcase their carefully prepared works.
Yongin Mayor Lee Sang-il previously conveyed the intention to host next year's Korea Theater Festival during meetings on the 10th of last month with Son Jeong-woo, Chairman of the Korea Theater Association, actor Lee Soon-jae, Han Won-sik, President of the Gyeonggi Theater Association, and Kim Hyuk-soo, CEO of the Yongin Cultural Foundation. At this meeting, actor Lee Soon-jae promised to participate as a promotional ambassador to ensure the success of the festival if Yongin City hosts the Korea Theater Festival.
Next year's Korea Theater Festival will be composed of ▲the final competition of the theater festival ▲networking festival ▲academic events and special performances.
Yongin City will also prepare a citizen theater stage featuring citizens as the main characters.
Mayor Lee Sang-il promised, "We will thoroughly prepare to make the 'Korea Theater Festival' held in Yongin a great festival that offers excellent programs and works to the citizens of Yongin and the people of Korea, and enhances Yongin's brand image."
