The 'Red Road Festival' held around Hongdae Red Road for two days from the 13th to the 14th concluded successfully.
It was a time to widely announce the official start of 'Red Road (RED ROAD),' Mapo's new tourism brand that will expand globally.
On the first day of the festival, the foreigner singing contest held at Red Road Square was followed by the Red Road proclamation ceremony, and celebratory performances featuring singer Lee Chan-won, Kloen, and comedian Ji Sang-yeol drew great responses.
In particular, Park Kang-soo, Mayor of Mapo-gu, took time to tour the Red Road with Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, explaining the main contents of the project and future plans to improve small plazas and traveler convenience facilities.
The final performance on the second day, 'Mapo Running Again, Hongdae Street Festival Red Road Festival,' was organized by the Hongdae Cultural Street Cooperative. It added significance by supporting local cultural artists' activities and increasing residents' opportunities to enjoy culture in connection with Mapo-gu's 'Local Culture and Arts Festival Support Project.'

View original imageAt the same time, over the two days, a handmade craft flea market, art experiences, busker performances, street exhibitions, on-site commerce with local merchants, and cooperative booths with shopping districts were held throughout Red Road’s R1 to R6 areas, captivating domestic and international tourists visiting the area.
Especially, the operation of K-food and culture food trucks in collaboration with local merchants saw direct participation from the Hongdae Small Business Merchants Association, emphasizing the purpose of revitalizing the local commercial district.
Above all, tourists who saw the 'Red Road' connecting the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail, Hongdae, and Danginri Power Plant, along with the adjacent alley commercial districts divided into '13 themed streets' by color and character, responded positively, saying, "It is good to intuitively know by color where many people gather and what can be enjoyed by going there."
