Comprehensive Measures to Be Announced After Complete Survey of School Routes
Busan City conducted an on-site inspection of school routes on the afternoon of the 12th to establish safety measures to prevent the recurrence of accidents related to the incident that occurred on April 28th in the Yeongdo-gu Child Protection Zone.
Busan City, in cooperation with the National Police Agency and the Office of Education, has launched an on-site inspection to conduct a comprehensive safety survey within school zones.
View original imageThe city formed a joint task force (TF) with related agencies and held two meetings on the 4th and 9th, chaired by the Deputy Mayor, as well as a working-level meeting of the Autonomous Police Committee on the 10th, continuously discussing comprehensive measures to create safe school routes.
According to the decisions made at the meetings, the city is conducting a full safety inspection within the Child Protection Zone from May 9th to 17th, covering 30 items across six categories (illegal parking, protective fences, high-risk areas, road conditions, etc.) in cooperation with the National Police Agency and the Office of Education.
Additionally, under the responsibility of the deputy heads of districts and counties, a 'District/County On-site Joint Investigation Team' composed of related departments, education support offices (including schools), local police stations, school operation committees (parents), and civic groups is conducting a joint investigation from May 10th to 17th.
Accordingly, on the afternoon of the 12th, Busan City and related agencies carried out an emergency on-site inspection of the Child Protection Zone to prepare safety measures for school routes.
On that day, the Deputy Mayor (head of the task force), the task force (TF), the district/county on-site joint investigation team, and the school operation committee visited Bonghak Elementary School in Yeongdo-gu, Cheonma Elementary School in Seo-gu, and Jaesong Elementary School in Haeundae-gu to jointly inspect ▲ unmanned enforcement equipment within the school zones ▲ safety facilities such as protective fences and speed bumps ▲ road and sidewalk widths, slopes, and other road conditions ▲ and other hazardous work sites and dangerous sections of children’s school routes.
Deputy Mayor An Byeong-yoon stated, “There have been too many tragic accidents threatening the safety of children around us. To prevent such accidents from recurring, we will thoroughly inspect all safety facilities, prioritize measures for hazardous facilities, and continuously manage them. The task force (TF) and the district/county on-site joint investigation team will continue to conduct joint inspections regularly to establish effective safety measures and do their best to create safe school routes where children and parents can feel secure.”
