Bitnine Supplies Open Source DBMS 'AgensSQL' to Korea Railroad Corporation
Graph database (DB) developer Bitnine announced on the 11th that it has signed a supply contract for the open-source database management system (DBMS) product 'AgensSQL' with Korea Railroad Corporation.
Bitnine will provide AgensSQL to Korea Railroad Corporation's 'Railway Operation Information System.' The Railway Operation Information System manages train operation information, and system failures directly affect train operations. Establishing a stable operation system is of utmost importance.
Korea Railroad Corporation explained that after carefully reviewing the requirements for migrating from the existing systems Oracle and IBM DB2 to PostgreSQL, they chose Bitnine's AgensSQL.
A representative from Korea Railroad Corporation said, "We expect to enhance the stability of train operation and management services, as well as the efficiency and scalability of data management by utilizing AgensSQL."
AgensSQL is a relational DBMS based on the open-source PostgreSQL. Bitnine has supplemented the vulnerabilities of open-source PostgreSQL, such as security, monitoring, and data distribution functions, through its accumulated DB core development capabilities. The newly released v2 version is also approaching GS (Good Software) certification.
It guarantees professional technical support at the source code level during DB operation and management. Along with the advantages of open-source open technology, enterprise-level services are available. Considering various values such as development convenience, cost, and performance simultaneously, it is regarded as the most perfect alternative.
A Bitnine representative said, "Efforts such as thorough preparation of execution plans for DB software (SW) delivery and the establishment of a technical support personnel system received high scores in the performance evaluation earlier this year." He added, "Despite being a latecomer in the DBMS market, we have been recognized for high technical competitiveness in execution capability and performance."
