Jeonbuk Asia-Pacific Masters Tournament, Tennis Event Held in Sunchang
The tennis event of the 2023 Jeonbuk Asia-Pacific Masters Games, a festival for amateur athletes worldwide, will be held in Sunchang-gun on the 12th.
According to Sunchang-gun on the 10th, the Asia-Pacific Masters Games is an international-scale event hosted by the IMGA (International Masters Games Association) and organized by Jeollabuk-do. It will be held over nine days from the 12th to the 20th, with events distributed across 14 cities and counties in Jeonbuk. Among them, the tennis event will take place in Sunchang-gun.
The tennis competition, held at the Sunchang Public Stadium, will feature 333 top players from various countries competing fiercely to showcase the charm and essence of tennis.
Accordingly, on the 9th, the county conducted a final safety inspection on-site together with the Sunchang Police Station to ensure the successful hosting of the Masters Games. It is expected that a large number of domestic and international athletes, officials, and spectators will visit Sunchang during the event period, so the county has been diligently preparing from early on by strengthening hygiene management in food and lodging establishments.
In particular, from the 13th to the 14th, for two days, exciting art busking performances such as magic shows, bubble shows, and busking will be presented on the main stage of the Sunchang Fermentation Theme Park, providing athletes and spectators visiting Sunchang during the event with opportunities to enjoy tourism and culture along with community spirit through amateur sports.
Choi Young-il, the county governor, said, “We are pleased that Sunchang can participate in the Jeonbuk Asia-Pacific Masters Games, which can showcase Jeonbuk’s strength and potential to the world,” and added, “We will support a successful event that moves people through sports and unites people worldwide together with the citizens of Sunchang.”
