Korail, Recruiting Institutions for Using Metropolitan Subway Station Name Subtitles
65 Stations Including Line 1, Line 4, and Gyeongui-Jungang Line
Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced on the 10th that it will recruit institutions to use station name subtitles for metropolitan subway stations until the 24th. Station name subtitles refer to displaying the name of the institution in parentheses below the existing station name sign to help easily locate nearby facilities around the railway station.
The target stations include 65 stations in total: 23 on the Gyeongbu Line, 16 on the Gyeongin Line, 13 on the Gyeongwon Line, 8 on the Ansan Line, and 5 on the Gyeongui-Jungang Line.
Participation conditions require the institution to be a public institution, university, hospital, or other multi-use facility near the station, and there must be no violation of public morals or opposition from local residents upon selection.
The selection process involves document review on △ accessibility △ public interest △ preference △ price evaluation, gathering opinions from local governments, and deliberation by internal and external expert committees including the Korea National Railway Corporation and academic societies, selecting one institution per station.
The selected station names will be displayed at station entrances and on platform guide signs for 1 to 3 years according to the contract period starting from July, and will also be announced on train broadcasts.
