Naver to Change PC Main Page to Mobile-Like Layout
Naver is redesigning its PC main page to resemble the mobile version.
On the 10th, Naver announced that the new PC main page will be fully applied starting from the 17th. From 2 PM on that day, users can click the "Try Now" button displayed on the existing PC main page to experience the new PC main page in advance.
Naver plans to change the search bar design on the PC main page to be the same as the mobile version and apply the top menu items provided on the mobile main page?such as ▲Shortcuts (hamburger menu), ▲Naver Pay, and ▲Notifications & Benefits?to the PC as well, improving the mobile usability to naturally connect to the PC. Logged-in users can use the MY services and MY sites set in the mobile shortcuts menu on the PC without any changes.
To allow convenient access to services with high mobile usability on the PC main page, a new "Widget Board" has been created in the bottom right area. The Widget Board offers five services?Calendar, Memo, Papago, English Dictionary, and NOW?as well as the mobile main page as small window widgets, enabling more convenient multitasking. For sensitive information contained in the Calendar and Memo, a lock feature is provided so that only the user can view them.
As user preferences and device environments diversify, various convenience features have been added. This update introduces options to select font size and screen style, and provides layouts optimized for browser resolution. Users can adjust font size in three levels and choose between light mode and dark mode according to their preferences and situations. The dark mode displays white text on a dark screen to reduce eye strain and save power consumption. For resolutions of 2560 or higher, a three-column layout is provided, and when the browser window size is reduced, layouts from two-column to mobile versions are offered to fit the screen size, allowing more convenient use of Naver services.
The new PC main page richly provides weather, stock market, and news information that users check daily. In the "Weather" section, users can check real-time weather, fine dust information, and hourly weather updates. The "Stock Market" section allows detailed viewing of major domestic and international indices through graphs and also shows stock prices of popular stocks. Logged-in users receive stock prices of their personally set favorite stocks. An editorial tab for media outlets has been added next to the Newsstand, enabling users to quickly and conveniently check articles from subscribed media outlets on the PC as well.
The existing shopping section has been improved so that users can immediately check various products, benefit information, shopping history, and order delivery status on the PC main page. In addition to the "Shopping" and "Men's" tabs, new tabs for special deals and shopping live broadcasts?"One Plus Deal" and "Shopping Live"?have been added.
