‘Korean Hulk’ Jeong Chan-min soared with a TaylorMade putter.
Jeong Chan-min achieved a commanding 6-stroke victory at the GS Caltex Maekyung Open, part of the Korean Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Korean Tour, held at Namseoul Golf Club in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province on the 7th. This was his first win in his 19th tournament since debuting on the Korean Tour last year. Although Jeong hit powerful long drives, he struggled on the greens. His performance did not improve due to inconsistent putting.

Switching from a blade putter to a mallet putter led to positive results. He chose the highly forgiving TaylorMade Spider GT Max model and showcased his best putting skills in this tournament. There was nothing to fault on the greens. On the fast greens of the fiercely competitive Namseoul Golf Club, he rolled the ball accurately into the hole. Jeong explained, "I had been using a blade putter, but after switching to a mallet putter, I saw results. Once my putts started dropping, my shots improved as well."
His short game, which had been a concern last year, also shone. In the rainy and harsh weather conditions where most players’ shot control declined, Jeong impressed by recovering from mistakes with approach shots that landed close to the hole. He equipped four TaylorMade MG3 wedges (46°, 52°, 56°, 60°). By selecting wedges suited to the course conditions, he achieved excellent results.
