At this summit, participants discussed the ‘polycrisis’ occurring worldwide, including pandemics, climate change, wars, and economic crises. They actively agreed on the role that arts and culture can play in addressing these challenges. They pledged to take action in their respective positions to protect cultural rights as fundamental human rights and artistic freedom.
Additionally, Chairman Jung held individual meetings with representatives of arts and culture support organizations from 11 countries (New Zealand, Malawi, Mexico, the United States, Vietnam, Singapore, Uruguay, Zambia, China, Canada, and Australia). They discussed various cooperation measures such as bridging the digital divide in the arts and culture sector, human exchanges, international collaborative projects, and the establishment and utilization of public data, agreeing to continue exchanges. They also reached a consensus to establish a separate consultative body with arts and culture support organizations in the Asia-Pacific region starting from July this year. Furthermore, they shared a mutual intention to exchange personnel with the U.S. National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to advance the arts sponsorship system.
