Uljin-gun Begins Intensive Summer Pest Control Project
Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk Province (Governor Son Byeong-bok) conducted safety training for 17 pest control workers from each eup and myeon to start intensive summer pest control and disinfection from May to the end of September, when the density of pests such as mosquitoes and flies increases.
The intensive summer pest control involves weekly thorough pest control activities by 17 pest control workers in each village, targeting mosquito larvae and adults in vulnerable areas of each eup and myeon, as well as water puddles and sewers in beach opening areas, to prevent pest-borne infectious diseases.
The inauguration ceremony and training included education on the use and precautions of pest control agents and equipment, pest control information geographic systems, and traffic safety education provided by Uljin Police Station (Chief Kang Myeong-won). This traffic safety education deeply resonated with the pest control workers, most of whom are motorcycle or elderly drivers.
