Pernod Ricard Launches 'Royal Salute Charles III Coronation Edition'
500 Bottles Worldwide, 9 Bottles Released Domestically
Pernod Ricard Korea's prestige whisky brand ‘Royal Salute’ announced on the 3rd that it will release the ‘Royal Salute Charles III Coronation Edition’ to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III of the United Kingdom, which will be held on the 6th, and to pay tribute to the new British monarch and the royal family.
Royal Salute, which was created in tribute to the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom in 1953, has continuously presented special editions honoring and praising the British royal family for the past 70 years. In particular, it has introduced premium limited editions commemorating the most monumental moments of the royal family, such as the ‘Royal Salute Diamond Jubilee’ and ‘Royal Salute Platinum Jubilee,’ marking the Queen’s accession anniversaries. This long-standing association with the royal history gives this edition even greater significance.
The Royal Salute Charles III Coronation Edition is the brand’s first coronation edition in 70 years since the ‘Royal Salute 21 Year Signature Blend’ was dedicated to the 1953 coronation. Master Blender Sandy Hislop commemorated the year Royal Salute was born, 1953, by sourcing 53 different rare malt and grain whiskies produced across Scotland. Through delicate and sophisticated blending, he created an innovative and artistic flavor unique to this edition. It features fresh red currant, dark chocolate praline, and freshly roasted chestnut aromas that offer a beautiful and complex taste, with a finish that is long and rich, harmonizing sweet fig and zesty ginger.
The decanter and packaging of this edition incorporate historical elements symbolizing the British monarchy, such as the crown representing the monarch and the venues of major royal events, enhancing the meaning of the coronation. The sapphire blue Dartington crystal decanter evokes the precious jewels adorning the British Imperial State Crown. The package holding the decanter is inspired by Westminster Abbey, where British monarchs’ coronations have been held, and is crafted as a luxurious wooden package with intricately carved pattern details on top. Additionally, the artwork inside the package is inspired by the jewels and coats of arms of the nations that make up the United Kingdom, symbolizing royal unity and the ongoing cohesion among the countries.
