Jeju Coast Guard Successfully Concludes 'International Marathon' at Jeju National University Main Stadium

Jeju Maritime Police Station (Chief So Byung-yong) announced on the 1st that the 2023 Peace Island Jeju International Marathon was successfully concluded on the 30th of last month at Jeju National University Grand Stadium.

In this international marathon, about 30 maritime police officers participated wearing life jackets and conducted a campaign to promote the importance of wearing life jackets and creating a safe and clean Jeju sea for the participants.

On the day of the event, a performance emphasizing the importance of wearing life jackets and an experiential promotional booth where participants could try on maritime police uniforms were operated.

Jeju Maritime Police, aiming to improve public awareness of life jacket use, held a campaign under the theme “Wear a life jacket when playing in the water~!” Approximately 30 maritime police officers wore life jackets and ran together with participants along the marathon courses (5 km, 10 km) to widely promote the importance of wearing life jackets. They also set up a photo zone for children to try on future maritime police uniforms and conducted a life jacket promotion campaign using maritime police character costumes.

A Jeju Maritime Police official said, “To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the maritime police this year, we conducted a campaign to directly wear life jackets for healthy and safe coastal experience activities and water leisure activities, raising awareness of the importance of wearing life jackets among residents and tourists visiting Jeju Island.”

He added, “We will continue to do our best to carry out promotional campaigns that communicate and engage with the public so that Jeju’s sea can be safe.”
