Jinju City Conducts On-site Inspection of the 'Jinju Asia Weightlifting Championships'
Creating the Best Environment at the Jinju Indoor Gymnasium, the Competition Venue
Jinju City Sports Council, Jinju Weightlifting Federation, and the Organizing Committee of the 2023 Jinju Asia Weightlifting Championships announced on the 1st that they conducted an on-site inspection of the Jinju Indoor Gymnasium, the venue for the '2023 Jinju Asia Weightlifting Championships.'
The basement level 1 of the Jinju Indoor Gymnasium, prepared as the competition venue, is equipped with various functional rooms such as the competition arena, warm-up area, comprehensive safety center, general control room, doping test room, and athlete lounge, creating an internationally exemplary venue where athletes can perform at their best in an optimal environment.
On the ground floor, various experience, promotion, and sales booths have been set up, including Jinju agricultural and specialty product sales booths, an aerospace exhibition hall, Jinju tourism promotion center, craft experience center, and Jinju silk sales booths, to promote Jinju's excellent content to athletes and spectators.

View original imageOutside the venue, installations include a flower sculpture shaped like a barbell, Seokgatap Park, bonsai displays, sponsor booths, and Harmo lanterns. Near Chojun Park, a hydrangea flower bed has been created and traditional folk lanterns are exhibited, providing a variety of attractions beyond the competition, creating an atmosphere of a sports festival enjoyed by all.
A representative of the Organizing Committee stated, “We have prepared a perfect venue befitting the status of the largest Asia Weightlifting Championships in history and are fully ready to welcome Asia's weightlifting community,” adding, “We hope all citizens of Jinju will join together to ensure the event concludes successfully.”
After the on-site inspection, Mayor Cho Gyu-il visited the training center to encourage the national team athletes who began training in Jinju on the 24th. At this occasion, Mayor Cho said, “I respect your sense of responsibility carrying the Taegeuk mark,” and added, “I hope the national anthem will resound before the world at every awards ceremony.”

The 2023 Jinju Asia Weightlifting Championships, starting on the 3rd, will hold a grand opening ceremony on the 4th showcasing Jinju's past, present, and future, followed by intense competitions from the 5th to the 13th as Asia's weightlifting athletes vie for the Paris Olympics.
