Accordingly, the city will invest 40.3 billion KRW over three years starting this year in collaboration with Korea Electric Power Corporation to realize a low-carbon Yeosu Industrial Complex based on eco-friendly energy.
▲ Construction of solar power generation facilities and green hydrogen production facilities via water electrolysis ▲ Support for replacing high-efficiency energy equipment ▲ Establishment of a battery recycling ecosystem ▲ Construction of a carbon emissions trading and management platform ▲ Establishment of an integrated energy cloud platform ▲ Construction of a digital twin-based safety management system are planned.
Through this project, the Yeosu Industrial Complex is expected to reduce energy costs, increase energy self-sufficiency, strengthen industrial competitiveness, and contribute to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 through carbon emissions reduction.
A city official said, “By transitioning to eco-friendly energy and improving energy efficiency in the petrochemical-centered Yeosu Industrial Complex, we expect to respond to global environmental regulations and secure corporate competitiveness, thereby creating new growth engines.”
Meanwhile, the Yeosu Industrial Complex was designated as a Smart Green Industrial Complex in 2020. Aiming to become a low-carbon digital safety industrial complex based on petrochemicals, projects such as the establishment of a process innovation simulation center, training of advanced smart manufacturing personnel, and construction of a digital environment and safety integrated control center are underway.
