BTS Suga's 'D-DAY' Tops Japan Oricon Daily Chart
110,000 Copies Sold Immediately After Release, Tops Daily Album Rankings
Group BTS member Suga's first official solo album 'D-DAY' topped the Oricon daily chart in Japan.
On the 23rd, his agency Big Hit Music announced that Suga's solo album 'D-DAY' sold over 110,000 copies since its release on the 21st, reaching the top of Oricon's 'Daily Album Ranking.'
The album's title track 'Haegum' ranked 3rd on the 'Daily Digital Single Ranking,' and other tracks such as 'Snooze,' 'HuH,' 'D-DAY,' and 'Life goes on' also entered the top 20.
'Haegum' was streamed 3,937,168 times and ranked 11th on Spotify's latest 'Daily Top Songs Global' chart, the world's largest music streaming platform, on the 21st.
'D-DAY,' released under the name August D, is Suga's first solo album in about three years since the 2020 mixtape 'D-2.' It completes the trilogy that began with the 2016 mixtape 'August D.'
Suga took charge of writing, composing, and producing all the tracks on this album, fully expressing his musical style. The album features collaborations with IU, Ryuichi Sakamoto, J-Hope, and others.
The album sold over 1.07 million copies on the day of release according to Hanteo Chart, setting a new record for the highest first-day sales by a K-pop solo artist and achieving million-seller status.

In the album's title track 'Haegum,' Suga uses a double entendre with the traditional Korean instrument 'haegum' (奚琴) and the phrase 'lifting a ban' (解禁) to present the theme of 'freedom' to people living constrained by various restrictions and limitations in daily life and society.
