Gumi-si Meister Mentor Group Practices 'Talent Sharing and Local Love'
Skilled Technicians Conduct Rural Volunteer Activities
The Meister Mentor Group of Gumi-si, Gyeongbuk (led by Shim Ilseop) conducted a talent-sharing volunteer activity on April 21 starting at 10 a.m. Forty-four participants, including Meister Mentor members, students from Gumi Electronics Technical High School and Kumo Technical High School, and officials from the Gyeongbuk Employers Federation, visited Chogok-ri, Okseong-myeon.
The volunteer activities carried out that day targeted the elderly residents of Chogok-ri, Okseong-myeon, and included electrical safety inspections, replacement of electrical switches and LED lighting, hairdressing services, and village cleanup. The volunteers personally demonstrated their love for the community through their skilled techniques.
Shim Ilseop, head of the Meister Mentor Group, expressed gratitude to the mentor members who took the lead in volunteering with one heart despite the hot weather, and stated that they will continue to develop the Meister Mentor Group as one that gives back to the local community through ongoing talent donations.
Lee Woonkyun, Director of the Labor Welfare Division, said, "We deeply appreciate the mentor group members for donating their skills to help the elderly in rural areas with their expert techniques. Gumi City will also strive to create many opportunities for skilled technicians to engage in social contribution activities and work to spread a positive perception of professional technicians."

The Gumi-si Meister Mentor Group was founded in October 2013 and currently consists of 44 members, including Korea’s Master Craftsmen, National Quality Masters, and top artisans of Gyeongbuk Province and Gumi City. The group carries out various activities such as consulting for small and medium-sized enterprises on technical support, industrial site visits and career aptitude education for Meister High School students, and community volunteer work to foster a social atmosphere that values professional technicians.
