During the ceremony, there was a time to reflect on the meaning of Disabled Persons Day by honoring meritorious persons dedicated to welfare for the disabled and awarding scholarships to outstanding disabled students to comfort their hard work.
Since this event was held for the first time in four years due to COVID-19, it offered greater enjoyment to disabled persons through various programs including a pre-ceremony performance, Nanta drumming, Pumba performance, invited singer performances, band performances, town and township singing contests, and gift certificate raffles.
A disabled participant, Mr. Lee, said, “I am glad to have enjoyed fun performances and a joyful time on Disabled Persons Day. I am grateful to those who dedicate themselves to helping us despite our difficulties, and with passion and will, I will overcome the barrier of disability and become a proud member of society.”
Governor Shim Min said, “We will strive to lead the creation of a true welfare society where everyone lives together without discrimination,” adding, “We will continue to listen more closely to the voices of disabled persons and provide high-quality welfare services so that they can become proud members of society without barriers.”
Meanwhile, the county plans to invest 14.5 billion KRW to build the Bandabi Gymnasium to promote healthy lives and leisure activities for disabled persons.
