Busan City Opens Carbon Neutrality Portal 'Net Zero Busan'

Online Platform Leading 2050 Carbon Neutrality Achievement and Customized Behavioral Change
Busan City will open the Busan Carbon Neutrality Portal ‘Net-Zero Busan’ on the 21st in celebration of the 15th Climate Change Week (4.21?4.27).
‘Net-Zero Busan’ is an online platform aimed at Busan citizens to raise awareness of the necessity of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and to lead behavior changes tailored to Busan for realizing carbon neutrality.
Citizens can easily access information on government and Busan City’s carbon neutrality policies anytime and anywhere, and receive guidance on practical actions and participation methods for achieving 2050 carbon neutrality (net-zero) in daily life.
Specifically, it consists of ▲ the definition of carbon neutrality ▲ the current status of carbon neutrality in Busan ▲ information related to the Carbon Neutrality Support Center ▲ practical ways to practice carbon neutrality in daily life, and will also include events and promotional materials related to carbon neutrality in the future.
Lee Geun-hee, Director of the Environmental Policy Office of Busan City, said, “We hope the Busan Carbon Neutrality Portal will serve as a hub for sharing information and knowledge about carbon neutrality and contribute to the global realization of carbon neutrality that limits the global temperature rise to below 1.5℃ by 2050.” He added, “We ask all citizens to actively show interest and participate in achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.”
In addition, with the opening of this portal, the city plans to produce and promote a video titled ‘Carbon Neutral City Busan with Buggi’ through various media to help citizens understand and embrace carbon neutrality more easily and familiarly.
To mark the 15th Climate Change Week, the city has prepared various commemorative events.

On the 19th at 10 a.m., the 53rd Earth Day ceremony will be held at the City Hall International Conference Hall; on the 22nd at 8 p.m., an Earth Day lights-out event will take place across Busan; and on the 27th at 3 p.m., a carbon neutrality lifestyle practice campaign will be held at Citizen’s Park.
