Police Suspect Distribution of 18 Bottles of 'Drug Drink' in Gangnam
The police estimate that out of 100 prepared bottles of 'drug beverages' related to the Gangnam academy district case, 18 bottles were actually used in the crime.

View original imageThe Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Narcotics Crime Investigation Unit announced on the 9th that the drug beverages used by those who handed out drinks containing drugs under the guise of a tasting event in the Gangnam academy district of Seoul's Gangnam-gu are estimated to be 18 bottles.
The police are interrogating Gil and Kim, who were involved in manufacturing and delivering the drug beverages and manipulating phone numbers for threatening calls, to trace the 'higher-ups.' It is known that A, a Korean national residing in China, instructed Gil to manufacture the drug beverages by mixing methamphetamine with milk. The police are backtracking the delivery route of the empty bottles imported from China.
Gil testified that he obtained methamphetamine using the so-called 'throwing' method, where drugs are left at designated locations.
Gil has been charged with sending drug beverages manufactured in Wonju, Gangwon Province, to four part-time workers in Seoul via express bus and courier service, and an arrest warrant has been requested.
Kim has been charged with manipulating Chinese internet phone numbers into domestic mobile phone numbers using a relay device during the process of the gang making threatening calls to the victim parents, and an arrest warrant has been requested.
The pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant hearing) for them will be held at 3 p.m. on the 10th at the Seoul Central District Court.
It is known that many of the apprehended individuals are directly or indirectly connected to Chinese voice phishing organizations. The empty bottles containing the drug beverages came from China, and the tone of the threatening calls made to the parents is also said to be that of Chinese-Korean residents.
Earlier, on the afternoon of the 3rd, four men and women in their 20s to 40s paired up in twos near Gangnam-gu Office Station and Daechi Station in Seoul, handing out drug beverages to students under the pretense of a 'concentration enhancement drink' tasting event.
They collected parents' phone numbers from the students, claiming it was necessary to confirm purchase intentions.
Subsequently, the victim parents received threatening calls from the gang speaking in a Joseonjok accent, saying, "We will report to the police or inform the school that your child has taken drugs."
It is known that a total of eight people, including one parent, consumed the drug beverages.

All four who distributed the drug beverages were either arrested or surrendered to the police, and they testified, "We only applied after seeing a part-time job advertisement online and did not know the drinks contained drugs."
