Pohang City, together with the Pohang City Sports Council, held the '61st Gyeongbuk Provincial Sports Festival Pohang City Team Send-off Ceremony' on the 5th at the Daejam Hall of City Hall.

View original imageThe send-off ceremony was attended by about 400 people, including participating athletes, executives and members of participating sports organizations, executives, elders, and committee members of the Sports Council, chairpersons of the town, township, and neighborhood councils, and supporters.
The event proceeded in the order of reports on the preparation status of the athlete teams from 30 sports organizations, awarding of the team flag, reading of the victory resolution, screening of the provincial sports festival video, supporter pairing, donation delivery, and chanting of the victory slogan.
The Pohang City team pledged victory aiming for the overall championship by participating in all 91 divisions across 30 sports from April 13, starting with the golf preliminary match, until the last day of the competition on the 24th. Through the city-wide supporter pairing for each sport, supporters will visit training grounds to encourage athletes and boost their morale by cheering at the venues during the competition period.
Naju-yeong, chairman of the City Sports Council, said in his address, “Let us all work together so that the athletes and supporters become one and Pohang City can achieve the overall championship,” adding, “The Sports Council will also do its best to prepare the team so that the athletes can achieve the best results.”
Deputy Mayor Kim Nam-il said, “Thanks to the supporters encouraging and cheering for the Pohang City team last year, the competition was successfully concluded and we were able to win the overall championship with excellent results,” and added, “Let us all work with one heart again this year for the overall championship.”

The '61st Gyeongbuk Provincial Sports Festival' will be held for four days from April 21 to 24 in the Uljin-gun area, with about 13,000 athletes and officials from 23 cities and counties participating in competitions across 30 sports (26 official, 4 demonstration).
