The Presidential Office stated on the 2nd that President Yoon Seok-yeol will not attend the 'April 3rd Victims Memorial Ceremony' on the 3rd, explaining, "President Yoon attended last year as the president-elect, and there is some consideration about whether it is appropriate to attend the same event every year," adding, "This year, it was judged appropriate for the Prime Minister to attend."
A senior official from the Presidential Office responded to reporters' questions about criticism regarding President Yoon's absence from the April 3rd memorial ceremony by saying, "Prime Minister Han Duck-soo will attend, and Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Won Hee-ryong will also attend."
It is also known that the ruling party leadership, including Kim Ki-hyun, leader of the People Power Party, and Joo Ho-young, floor leader, notified their absence from the memorial ceremony due to internal party schedules.
Regarding President Yoon and the ruling party's actions, the Democratic Party and others have criticized, questioning whether there is time to visit a baseball stadium but no time to attend the Jeju April 3rd memorial ceremony.
The official particularly added, "The message delivered by Prime Minister Han is the message of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration."
