Starting Tomorrow, Jeonse Damage Confirmation Certificates Will Be Issued at 17 Metropolitan and Provincial Government Offices Nationwide
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 2nd that tenants affected by jeonse damage can visit the metropolitan city halls or provincial offices in charge of their residence starting from the 3rd to apply for a Jeonse Damage Confirmation Certificate and emergency housing support.
The Jeonse Damage Confirmation Certificate is a document that proves that the tenant has not received the deposit back even after one month has passed since the contract ended, or that the tenant's lease rights were extinguished due to the jeonse house being sold at a public auction or court auction, but the deposit was not properly refunded. When moving, submitting the Jeonse Damage Confirmation Certificate or supporting documents to banks (Woori, Kookmin, Nonghyup, Shinhan, Hana) allows tenants to receive jeonse loans at a low interest rate of 1-2% per annum.
In addition, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has opened additional Jeonse Damage Support Centers in Gyeonggi Province and Busan City, where many jeonse damage cases have occurred. Previously, the Ministry opened support centers in Gangseo-gu, Seoul and Bupyeong-gu, Incheon.

The Gyeonggi Province Center, which is a collaboration between Gyeonggi Province, Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation, Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG), and the Korea Legal Aid Corporation, temporarily opened on the 31st of last month. The Busan Center, operated in cooperation with Busan City and Busan Urban Corporation (Open Counseling Room on the 1st floor of Busan Urban Corporation), will start consultations from this day. Visitors to the centers can receive legal consultations, issuance of Jeonse Damage Confirmation Certificates, guidance on financial and emergency housing support, and legal aid information. Consultation hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and telephone consultations are also available.
