Grand Korea Leisure Selected for 'GKL Public Interest Support Project' in Q1
Busanjin-gu 'Social Safety Net Strengthening Samgo(庫)'
Together with Gangnam-gu 'Environmental Leader Training & ESG Practice'
Grand Korea Leisure (GKL) announced on the 29th that it held a Social Value Committee meeting and selected the GKL public interest support projects for the first quarter of 2023.
The projects selected on this day are ▲ Busanjin-gu Social Safety Net Enhancement Samgo(庫) ▲ ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) practices for nurturing environmental leaders and future generations in collaboration with GKL and Gangnam-gu, totaling two projects. The total support amount is 120 million KRW, and the project period is from April to November 2023.
The Busanjin-gu Social Safety Net Enhancement Samgo(庫) project is in its second year, following last year. It is part of the 'Social Value Realization Business Agreement' signed with Busanjin-gu Office in 2018. The project identifies and supports households suspected of being in crisis outside the institutional welfare system and aims to prevent solitary deaths among single-person households.
Through this project last year, 35 households in Busanjin-gu were designated as basic livelihood security recipients and received living and medical expenses support from the government, and 11 households were linked to emergency living expense support. Additionally, support for helping neighbors was connected to 384 households, linking public and private support services to a total of 406 households, thereby reducing welfare blind spots. This year, support will be further strengthened by providing secondary support to households in need but unable to receive public service support, and plans to link with volunteer activities of GKL employees.
The ESG practice for nurturing environmental leaders and future generations is a new project promoted to create jobs and promote regional coexistence based on the 'Business Agreement for Social Value Realization' signed with Gangnam-gu in 2019. To create jobs for women with career interruptions and unemployed youth, GKL and Gangnam-gu will collaborate to train environmental leaders (environmental field instructors) and dispatch them to elementary, middle, and high schools in Gangnam-gu to introduce customized environmental education to future generations.
