The National Library of Korea announced that this year’s recipients of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Commendation for Outstanding Legal Deposit are Dasan Books (general books category) and Parkyoungsa (online materials category).

The outstanding legal deposit recipients were selected based on Article 21 of the Library Act, targeting publishers who complied with the legal deadline (within 30 days from the publication date) for legal deposit to the National Library of Korea during the past year and actively participated in the ISBN (International Standard Book Number) system.
Dasan Books, the winner in the general books category, was recognized for promptly depositing various types of publications within 30 days from the publication date. Parkyoungsa was acknowledged for depositing 1,271 eligible online materials published since the enforcement of the online materials legal deposit law (August 2016).
The National Library of Korea under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism annually selects outstanding legal deposit publishers and awards the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Commendation to commemorate the implementation date of the legal deposit system on March 26, 1965. The award ceremony, which used to be held at the end of March each year, has been replaced by individual delivery of certificates and plaques.
