Seoul National University Deducts 2 Points from Jeong Sun-shin's Son in 2020 Regular Admissions Due to "School Violence"
It was revealed on the 28th that Jeong Mo (22), the son of lawyer Jeong Sun-shin who was dismissed from the position of head of the National Investigation Headquarters due to his child's school violence issue, was deducted 2 points from his College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) score by Seoul National University in the 2020 academic year regular admissions.
Seoul National University stated in data submitted to Kang Deuk-gu, a member of the National Assembly's Education Committee from the Democratic Party of Korea, "Considering the disciplinary level for Jeong, we decided on the maximum deduction and deducted 2 points from the CSAT score."
According to Seoul National University's internal review criteria, students who receive disciplinary actions of level 8 (transfer) or level 9 (expulsion) due to school violence or similar issues are given the lowest grade in document evaluation or have 2 points deducted from their CSAT scores. Jeong received a level 8 disciplinary action from the School Violence Countermeasure Autonomous Committee, resulting in a transfer. Among the 10 applicants who were reviewed for 'internal and external disciplinary actions' in the 2020 regular admissions, Jeong was the only student to receive the most severe penalty of a 2-point deduction from the CSAT score.

In early admissions, the numbers were ▲0 out of 2 in 2019 ▲0 out of 2 in 2020 ▲1 out of 2 in 2022. There were no deductions in 2021 and 2023.
