Police Raid Jangseong Area Nonghyup Over Alleged Vote-Buying in Cooperative Chief Election
The police have launched an investigation into a Nonghyup in Jangseong-gun, Jeonnam, where allegations of distributing money and goods to members during the nationwide simultaneous cooperative head election have been raised.
The Anti-Corruption Economic Crime Investigation Unit of the Gwangju Police Agency executed search warrants on the residences and offices of the cooperative head in Jangseong-gun, Jeonnam, on the morning of the 28th.
The police are investigating two individuals, including the current cooperative head A and B, who allegedly distributed tens of millions of won in money and goods during the cooperative head election, on suspicion of violating the Entrusted Election Act.
The police plan to analyze the seized items to verify the charges.
It is reported that many cooperative members voluntarily reported to the police and the Election Commission that cooperative head A distributed money and goods during his candidacy.
