Busan City and Korea Marine Science and Technology Council Sign MOU for Maritime Smart City Implementation

On the 27th at 11 a.m., Busan City will sign a business agreement with the Korea Marine Science and Technology Council to implement a marine smart city at the International Protocol Room on the 7th floor of City Hall.
The "Korea Marine Science and Technology Council" is a consortium composed of six academic societies: the Korean Society of Naval Architects and Ocean Engineers, the Korean Society of Navigation and Port Research, the Korean Society of Coastal and Ocean Engineers, the Korean Society of Marine Engineering, the Korean Society of Oceanography, and the Korean Society of Marine Environment and Energy. It is the leading association in the field of marine science and technology.
This agreement was prepared to pledge mutual cooperation between the two organizations in enhancing regional marine science and technology capabilities and promoting the marine smart city development project.
About 15 officials, including Mayor Park Hyung-jun and Chairman Kim Gyu-han, will attend the signing ceremony. In particular, Mayor Park is expected to urge mutual cooperation for scientific and technical advice related to the marine city pilot project.
The main contents of the agreement include ▲ scientific and technical advice related to the sustainable marine city pilot project ▲ cooperation for establishing the vision of Busan City's "Global Marine Smart City Cluster" ▲ matters concerning the discovery of new projects to realize the marine smart city ▲ active cooperation by each party to enhance capabilities in the marine science and technology field and utilize them for regional development.

Mayor Park Hyung-jun of Busan said, "Cooperation with the Korea Marine Science and Technology Council, which strives to find solutions to global marine issues, will be a great driving force to advance our goals." He added, "With many tasks ahead such as hosting the 2030 Busan World Expo, constructing the marine city, and the East Sea gas field capture and storage project, I hope this agreement marks the beginning of expanding cooperation between the council and our city."
