Weekend Traffic Congestion Expected in Jongno, Euljiro, and Sejong-daero... Large-Scale Rallies and Events Scheduled
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 24th that significant traffic congestion is expected on Saturday the 25th afternoon due to large-scale rallies and marches in downtown Seoul.
Severe traffic jams are especially anticipated around Sejong-daero, Jongno, and Euljiro areas. In the Daehangno area, a large-scale rally with over 10,000 participants from labor organizations will take place, followed by a march from Jongno 5-ga Rotary through Euljiro Entrance to Seoul City Hall.
At Gwanghwamun Square and Sejong-daero area, the Kukkiwon-hosted 'Kukki Taekwondo Hanmaeum Festival' with about 10,000 attendees will be held. Due to this, the police plan to control traffic in both directions from Gwanghwamun Rotary to Sejong Rotary, except for the two lower lanes.
Additionally, to minimize inconvenience to citizens caused by traffic congestion, the police will deploy traffic officers around the rally and march routes, operate reversible lanes in the Sejong-daero area, and manage traffic by rerouting vehicles at heavily congested intersections.
A Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency official urged, "Please use public transportation such as the subway as much as possible, and if you must use a vehicle, check traffic information in advance."
