Sacheon-si Holds Aerospace Founding Forum
Signal Flare for Enhancing Gyeongnam Aerospace Status
The ‘Aerospace Policy Forum,’ composed of 55 experts from industry, academia, research, and government, was launched on the 21st to present the vision for aerospace in Gyeongnam and to discuss policies and development.
The Aerospace Policy Forum held its inaugural general meeting at the KB Ingenium Event Hall located in Gonyang-myeon, Sacheon-si, with about 300 attendees from aerospace industry, academia, research, and government sectors, and approved its bylaws.
Additionally, to present the path and vision for the aerospace field, it was decided to hold regular general meetings and actively promote activities.
The forum will be operated by a group of five co-chairpersons and one standing representative. The standing representative is Kim Min-seok, Vice Chairman of the Korea Aerospace Industry Promotion Association. The co-chairpersons include Standing Representative Kim, Lee Sang-cheol, President of the Korean Society for Space and Aeronautics, Kwon Jin-hoe, Professor at Gyeongsang National University, Kim Nam-kyung, Professor Emeritus at Gyeongsang National University (former President of Gyeongnam National University of Science and Technology), and Kim Tae-hyung, Chairman of the KAI Manufacturing Division Council (CEO of Mirae Aerospace).
Following this, the Aerospace Policy Forum held its inaugural forum under the theme ‘The Space Era! Directions for Aerospace Policy and Industrial Development.’ A lively atmosphere was created with expert discussions from various fields about the future aerospace industry.
On this day, Cho Hwang-hee, Director of the National Space Policy Research Center, gave a presentation titled ‘Establishment and Challenges of the Space Aviation Agency,’ and Hwang Jin-young, Senior Researcher at the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, presented on ‘Space Era, Industry and Regional Policies.’ The keynote speech was delivered by Lee, President of the Korean Society for Space and Aeronautics.
Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, said, “With the launch of the Aerospace Policy Forum, we expect a significant role in the development of aerospace in Gyeongnam ahead of the opening of the Space Aviation Agency, and we look forward to active future activities.”

Mayor Park Dong-sik said, “It is meaningful that the Aerospace Policy Forum was launched in Sacheon, an aerospace city,” and urged, “Please give active support and interest for the establishment of the Space Aviation Agency, which will be Korea’s first step into space.”
