[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] LG Uplus appointed Yeomyeonghee, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Risk Officer (CRO), as its first female inside director at the regular shareholders' meeting. The company also announced plans to launch a telecommunications life platform product designed directly by customers in the first half of the year and stated that it is considering the use of ChatGPT.
LG Uplus held the '27th Regular Shareholders' Meeting' on the 17th at its Yongsan headquarters in Seoul.

At the 27th shareholders' meeting, resolutions were made on ▲approval of financial statements ▲approval of amendments to the articles of incorporation ▲appointment of inside and outside directors ▲appointment of audit committee members ▲approval of director remuneration limits.
On this day, Yeomyeonghee, Executive Vice President and CFO·CRO of LG Uplus, was newly appointed as an inside director. She is the first female inside director at LG Uplus. Executive Vice President Ye has been recognized for her capabilities in accounting, finance, and management through her roles in accounting and business planning at LG Uplus. She was appointed CFO·CRO through this year's organizational restructuring and executive personnel changes. In addition, Professor Yoon Seongsu of Korea University and Eom Yunmi, a registered director of the Seed Book Culture Foundation, were reappointed as outside directors. Professors Yoon and Eom also serve as members of the audit committee.
A year-end cash dividend of 400 KRW per common share was confirmed. Including the interim dividend of 250 KRW, LG Uplus's total dividend per share increased by 18.18% from 550 KRW last year to 650 KRW.
To accelerate the MyData business, the articles of incorporation were amended to add the business purpose of "Personal credit information management business and its concurrent and multiple operations under the Act on the Use and Protection of Credit Information." LG Uplus plans to leverage this addition to enhance data analysis and sophistication capabilities, providing differentiated customer experiences based on data and accelerating its future growth vision, ‘U+ 3.0.’
To enhance shareholder rights and expand communication, online and mobile real-time broadcasting was introduced for the first time. From the 7th to the 16th, shareholders submitted questions in advance, which were answered during the actual shareholders' meeting.
When asked about the progress of the four major platform strategies of Uplus 3.0, Hwang Hyunsik, CEO of LG Uplus, said, "The core of the platform business is securing touchpoints to meet customers. We are concretizing a structure where the service platform grows to keep customers longer, and the data generated from that leads to new services and new businesses." He added, "In the telecommunications life platform, we plan to launch a digital brand in the first half of the year where customers can directly design products and freely subscribe or change them, and we are preparing to launch a new service that allows spending spare time through daily records. However, platform business takes considerable time. We are currently in the preparation process, so we ask for active support."

Regarding the artificial intelligence (AI) strategy, he stated, "AI will be the most essential tool in creating Uplus 3.0. Last year, we registered our own solution called 'IXI,' which is currently being used in new business areas such as IPTV, Spoky, and Idle Nara. We plan to respond to the recent hot topic of large-scale AI through collaboration with the LG AI Research Institute. We are also considering ways to utilize ChatGPT and others."
