This scene has recently spread rapidly on social media. The released video shows Prime Minister Sunak and his family strolling by the lakeside in Hyde Park with their Labrador Retriever. The dog in the video is 'Nova,' who lives with the Prime Minister at the official residence.
Near the lake in Hyde Park, there is a sign stating that dogs must be kept on a leash, but the Prime Minister's dog is freely roaming without a leash. When police pointed this out, the dog was quickly leashed. It is not known when the video was recorded.
A police spokesperson said, "We are aware of the video showing a dog being walked off-leash in Hyde Park," adding, "An officer on the scene spoke to the woman to inform her of the regulations, and the dog was leashed again."
The Guardian reported that the woman mentioned by the police was the Prime Minister's wife, Akshata Murty.
In response, the Prime Minister's office did not comment on the dog leash video, stating it was "a private matter of the Prime Minister's family."
