Uljin-gun Confirmed as Host for Nuclear Hydrogen National Industrial Complex!
National Hydrogen Industry Leadership and Foundation for Local Small and Strong City Advancement
Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, has succeeded in attracting the Nuclear Hydrogen National Industrial Complex.
On the 15th, the government announced the designation of 14 new national industrial complex candidate sites, including the Uljin Nuclear Hydrogen National Industrial Complex, at the 14th Emergency Economic and Livelihood Meeting presided over by the President.
These candidate sites will be developed into national industrial complexes after going through certain procedures such as selecting project operators and feasibility reviews.
The Uljin Nuclear Hydrogen National Industrial Complex will be developed by 2030 in the area of Jukbyeon Hujeong-ri, covering approximately 480,000 pyeong (about 1.59 million square meters), with a development cost of about 400 billion KRW.
The Uljin national industrial complex will cluster major domestic hydrogen-related conglomerates, materials and parts manufacturing companies, and research facilities. A national innovative hydrogen industry cluster will be established, positioning Uljin at the center of the national hydrogen industry, a key task in the carbon-neutral era.
The regional economic impact is expected to be enormous, with a production inducement effect of 7.1 trillion KRW and an employment inducement effect of 24,050 jobs.
County Governor Son Byeong-bok expressed deep gratitude to the citizens who supported the project and the 700 public officials who worked with full effort, saying, “Uljin has gained a major growth engine responsible for the next hundred years amid the era’s crisis of population and regional extinction.”
