The project involves a total of 204 MW of solar power generation rights in the Castilla y Le?n region of Spain, which Hanwha Energy acquired in July 2019 and has been developing. Construction of the power plant began in September this year, with commercial operation scheduled for August next year.
This power plant is expected to produce enough energy to supply approximately 109,584 households annually and achieve a greenhouse gas reduction effect equivalent to 83,287 tons, which is the same as the emissions from 58,080 vehicles.
The buyer is Amarenco Solar, headquartered in Ireland. It operates more than 2,000 solar power plants in over 14 countries worldwide. This transaction marks the second sale between Hanwha Energy and Amarenco Solar, following the sale of a 50 MW solar power plant in the Seville region of Spain in November 2020.
Hanwha Energy established its Spanish subsidiary (Hanwha Energy Corporation Europe S.L.U) in 2018 and is currently conducting approximately 3 GW of solar power and energy storage system (ESS) projects in Spain, Italy, and Ireland. Additionally, in 2020, it launched the power retail business brand "Imagina Energia" in Spain, promoting power retail and rooftop solar power generation businesses.
