Government Supports Resumption of K-Drama and Variety Show Exports to Chinese-speaking Regions
Operating Korean Joint Pavilion at Hong Kong's 'Filmart' After In-Person Transition
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency announced on the 13th that they will operate a Korean joint pavilion at Hong Kong's FILMART to help resume exports of K-dramas and variety shows to the Greater China region. FILMART is the largest TV and film market in the Asia-Pacific region, primarily visited by buyers from the Greater China area. It is being held as an in-person event for the first time in four years since the spread of COVID-19.

With the resumption of Korean drama broadcasts in China last year, expectations for exports to the Greater China region have grown significantly. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism supports the Korean joint pavilion along with pre-business matching and exchange events. A K-content promotional showcase unveiling works scheduled to air this year will also be held in the main theater at the event venue. A ministry official stated, "Kim Na-young, CEO of West World Story who produced the drama 'Look At Me,' along with actors Lee Min-ki and Han Ji-hyun will attend to present the characters, viewing points, and production and distribution plans of the work."
