"Looks Exactly Like Yoon's Face"... 60s Man Assaulted Acquaintance with Baseball Bat
A man in his 60s who swung a baseball bat at an acquaintance because he resembled President Yoon Suk-yeol was sentenced to a suspended prison term in the first trial.
According to the legal community on the 11th, Judge Shin Seo-won of the Seoul Eastern District Court Criminal Division 5 sentenced Mr. A, a man in his 60s charged with special assault, to one year in prison with a two-year suspension.
Mr. A is accused of striking the head of an acquaintance four times with an aluminum baseball bat while drinking and watching TV together at his home in June of last year. Investigations revealed that Mr. A assaulted the victim, who was watching TV, saying, "You look exactly like Yoon Suk-yeol." The victim sustained injuries requiring about four weeks of treatment.
During the trial, Mr. A denied assaulting the victim with the baseball bat.
Judge Shin stated, "The victim gave consistent and detailed testimony from the investigation stage to the courtroom regarding the circumstances and method of the assault by Mr. A, as well as the injury locations," adding, "There is no indication to doubt the credibility of the testimony."

He further explained the sentencing by saying, "Considering the method of the crime and the extent of the victim's injuries, the culpability is serious."
