Samsung SDS Accelerates Corporate Cloud Market Penetration with Total Service
Corporate Cloud Brand Unveiled... Betting on High Growth
Cloud Platform, Operation Services, and Solutions 'Triple Harmony'
Samsung SDS is intensifying its push into the enterprise cloud market. It provides comprehensive cloud services that companies need, including cloud platforms, cloud operation services, and solutions. With the expectation that demand for cloud migration will increase despite the economic downturn, the company aims to leverage this as a growth engine.
On the 10th, Samsung SDS held a media day at its Jamsil campus and unveiled its enterprise cloud brand slogan, 'Cloud. Simply Fit.'
Hwang Sung-woo, CEO of Samsung SDS, explained, "We are the only company in Korea that possesses the technology to provide cloud platforms, operation services, and solutions together," adding, "As cloud services become increasingly complex, we developed solutions to help companies use the cloud more easily."
Samsung SDS has developed a customized Samsung Cloud Platform (SCP) for enterprises. It provides cloud services (CSP) for over 200 tasks across various industries such as finance, manufacturing, and services. Based on this, it offers cloud services optimized for corporate requirements including security, safety, and availability. The platform is designed to be as simple as possible to facilitate easy cloud adoption and focuses on effective data utilization.
Through its cloud management service (MSP), Samsung SDS supports consulting, management, and monitoring necessary for companies to adopt and operate cloud services. It designs optimized services for enterprises using not only Samsung Cloud but also various cloud platforms. Additionally, it offers applications (SaaS) provided on the cloud, delivering solutions for business innovation such as automation, collaboration, supply chain management, and human resource management.
Gu Hyung-jun, Vice President of Samsung SDS’s Cloud Business Division, emphasized, "To meet the diverse needs of companies, cloud and solutions must be well integrated," and added, "For this, a provider capable of MSP, CSP, and SaaS is essential."
To provide ultra-fast and large-capacity cloud services to enterprises, Samsung SDS opened the Dongtan Data Center in December last year. It is Korea’s first high-performance computing data center, utilizing large-scale Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) servers to perform complex computational tasks such as artificial intelligence (AI) and big data analytics, which are then offered via the cloud. This year, Samsung SDS will continue investing in the Dongtan Data Center’s facilities, pouring over 500 billion KRW into IT equipment including servers, storage, and networks. Considering that, except for last year, the company has invested 200 to 300 billion KRW annually in capital expenditures (CAPEX), this represents nearly double the investment.
