Kim Sun-min, President of HIRA, to Retire on the 10th with One Month Left in Term
Kim Sun-min, President of the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA), will retire on the 10th, about a month before the end of his term.
According to HIRA on the 9th, President Kim is scheduled to hold a farewell ceremony with employees on the morning of the 10th and step down. His term was set to last until next month.
President Kim graduated from Seoul National University College of Medicine and served as a full-time member of HIRA's Medical Review and Assessment Committee in 2006. He was appointed Planning Executive Director in 2018 and became HIRA's first female president in 2020.
This is the fourth time a head of a public institution under the Ministry of Health and Welfare has changed during the current administration. Previously, Kang Do-tae, Chairman of the National Health Insurance Service, abruptly resigned with 1 year and 10 months remaining in his term.

Kang Jung-gu, former director of Ilsan CHA Hospital, is strongly mentioned as the successor to the HIRA president. Kang, a graduate of Yonsei University College of Medicine, served as director of the National Health Insurance Service Ilsan Hospital from 2015 to 2018 and was director of Ilsan CHA Hospital from April 2020 until last month.
