The Yeongdeok Market, which was destroyed by fire, has taken the first step toward becoming a premium market by commencing demolition work from the 8th of this month until May 31st.

View original imageYeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, secured a total project budget of 30 billion KRW for the reconstruction of Yeongdeok Market by being selected for various grant projects, including 13.3 billion KRW for the market modernization project, 8.3 billion KRW for the traditional market parking environment improvement project, and 8.4 billion KRW for the urban regeneration recognition project. Going forward, a premium market covering an area of 15,098㎡ (4,560 pyeong) will be developed.
As the first step, the 3,004.74㎡ of market buildings, including the arcade and bridge, which were completely destroyed by the fire, will be demolished, followed sequentially by temporary construction, demolition, and waste disposal works.
To ensure safe and efficient demolition, a preliminary survey of adjacent areas has been completed, and dust-proof curtains and 5-meter-high soundproof walls will be installed to minimize noise and dust issues caused by the construction, with continuous monitoring to prevent any inconvenience to residents.
